One of the questions we hear most often from new VEDUMI customers is simple: "how do I actually look after this?" The good news is that resin art is low-maintenance by design — but a few small habits will keep it looking freshly poured for years.

Cleaning

Wipe your resin piece with a soft, dry microfibre cloth for everyday dusting. For a deeper clean, use a slightly damp cloth with plain water. Avoid ammonia-based glass cleaners, alcohol-based cleaners, and abrasive scouring pads — these can dull the glossy surface over time. If a piece is functional (a tray or coaster, for instance), a mild dish soap and water is perfectly safe.

Sunlight and UV Exposure

This is the single most important thing to know: prolonged, direct sunlight can cause resin to gradually yellow over months or years. This isn't unique to VEDUMI or to resin generally — it's a property of the cured polymer reacting to UV light. Displaying your piece away from a window that gets harsh all-day sun, or using UV-filtering window film, will dramatically slow this process. Indirect light, or a few hours of morning sun, is generally fine.

Temperature

Resin is stable across the range of temperatures found in a normal Indian home, but avoid leaving pieces in a closed car during peak summer heat, or directly against a heat source like a radiator or stovetop — sustained high heat can soften the surface.

Scratches and Everyday Use

Cured resin is hard and scratch-resistant under normal handling, but as with any glossy surface, sliding heavy or abrasive objects across it repeatedly can create fine surface scratches over time. For tabletops and trays used daily, felt pads under décor items are a simple way to keep the surface pristine.

Storing a Piece Temporarily

If you need to store a resin piece — during a move, for example — wrap it in a soft cloth (not plastic, which can trap moisture against the surface) and store it flat, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

A Quick Care Checklist

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth
  • Clean with mild soap and water only — no ammonia or alcohol cleaners
  • Keep out of harsh, prolonged direct sunlight
  • Use felt pads under items placed on resin trays or tables
  • Store flat, wrapped in cloth, if needed

Treated well, a VEDUMI piece isn't a fragile decoration — it's a durable, functional piece of art that's genuinely built to be lived with.
